HISPANIC BUSINESS RECOVERY INITIATIVE |
|
Facts Situation: - The US economy is lead by the jobs in the small business and entrepreneurial community.
- California has an 11% unemployment rate. In some communities, that rate goes up to 40%.
- Over 720,000 Hispanic Businesses in California
- Businesses cannot afford to be taxed out of the recession.
- The administration for the US and California agree that business needs certain items in place to be successful and grow
- Capacity Building – Technical assistance, to enhance business strategies; adjust for changing industries; prepare for investment; knowledge of contracting requirements; use of technology, etc.
- Contract Opportunities – Access to agency and corporate requirements and opportunities to bid.
- Access to Capital – To grow into new technologies; fulfill contracts earned; hire the necessary help.
The California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce is prepared to do something about it. Solutions: The CHCC maintains a network of 65+ Chambers and business organizations and it is growing. Recently added, Imperial County, Yuba City, and Del Norte.
The CHCC represents the interests of over 720,000 Hispanic owned businesses. Hispanic Entrepreneurs is one of the few growing segments in California and the US. If Hispanic owned businesses added only 1 job each, California would not be a victim of this recession. The CHCC will utilize its network of chambers to provide an aggressive approach to providing technical assistance (setting up 8 Procurement Assistance Centers), contract opportunities (Information sharing and mentor opportunities), and access to capital (traditional, micro-lending, equity fund development, etc). CHCC will partner with state of California and legislature to implement CHCC will provide Public/Private partnership to contribute and achieve the above goals. CHCC and its members receive no money from the California General Fund.
